Listen to the Painting

Listen to the Painting — or perhaps Look at the Music? — is a collaboration with musicians in which both the visual and the acoustic compositions are derived from the same mathematical system. Permutations of the Fibonacci and Langford numerical sequences, what I call Remixes, generate the combinations that are seen in the painting and heard in the short audio clip.

Colour and musical sequences, sharing a common mathematical origin, form together the complete artwork. In addition, the musicians composed variations of these sequences, which took shape as a form of improvisation within the same system. On occasion, these works have been presented as live performances.
